“AUTOMOTO”

since 2021

Our house used to be a farmer's house and that's why you can find plenty of technical suppliers for repairing almost everything in the world. Except these, you can find huge piles of trashy stuff, mainly placed inside a big barn and surrounding outside area. I like harmony. This mess was making me depressed. One day, during the walk to the composter, with bio garbage, I noticed it. That trashy stuff has its own beauty! Suddenly I felt that they wanted to be painted. I portray car engines, tires, broken lawnmowers, and canisters of spoiled oils. The faded elegance and rust-stained surfaces, express for me the symbols of resilience and character. They stand as testaments to both - the fragility and strength of human beings. They remind us that beauty can be found even in the most imperfect and weathered forms. Each dent and scratch carries memories of the passage of time.

As technology advances and environmental concerns grow, the demand for alternative fuel sources has propelled the decline of gasoline. The rise of electric vehicles, powered by clean and renewable energy, has revolutionized the automotive industry. With my work, I ask significant and crucial questions: whether this is our path to an eco-friendly future?
People living in my neighborhood make heavy use of devices that require oil extraction because they don't have the funds for new, "greener" options. The ecological demands on farmers and the forest industry in Finland often lead to the loss of the livelihood of local people and their massive departure from villages to cities, where they have trouble socializing with the city lifestyle and finding suitable jobs due to their generational livelihood sourced by nature.

I’m an artist who cannot repair a car but I can fantasize about it.
