FIN Entry

  • Knihovna Karla Dvořáčka 4 Nádražní Vyškov, Jihomoravský kraj, 682 01 Czechia (map)

Dear friends, come and stop by to meet my new paintings, which I have been working on recently in my studio in Finland and at the artist residency Banska Stanica Contemporary in Banská Štiavnica in Slovakia . I offer you a small detachment from the current difficult situation and I look forward to our discussions about the details of the world in my paintings!

Painting and life cannot be separated. I need to live it to transform it into paintings. The little I find out about a place I use to define myself, to connect and to confront.

The title of the exhibition “FIN ENTRY” is taken from the name of the traveler service in Finland facilitating travel during a coronavirus pandemic. The service description states: "The service evaluates traveler’s risk of spreading the coronavirus and provides travelers with information and instructions on coronavirus testing and self-isolation."

The description contains three words in which I found my own feelings expressing the Finnish mentality and approach to life - EVALUATE, INFORMATION, SELF-ISOLATION.

As an immigrant in Finland, I naturally deal with the issues of finding a new identity, home and assimilating myself into the Finnish society. My artwork is influenced by the spirit of Finnish literature and the study of the Finnish language, which have enriched my life with new themes, ideas and self-confidence. I am fascinated by the Finnish way of expression of intimacy, an inwardly deep experience of emotions, which, however, is carefully hidden and only those closest ones can reveal it. The key to discovering the inner world of beautiful Finns is for me literature and close friendships, which are truly dear to me.

The theme of the paintings in the “FIN ENTRY” exhibition are humans struggling with their destiny, striving for success and finding their place in the world. It is a story of the wounded being, the confrontation, rebellion and the inner need of self identification.

With the exhibition “FIN ENTRY” I present to you a world in which painting is a tool to discover the complexity of the world of a multicultural society, reflecting my desire for life, passion and observation.
